Drawing from adventure therapy, ecotherapy, ecopsychology, and recreational therapy I provide nature-based family therapy, in which I facilitate therapeutic experiential activities aimed at drawing out and addressing family dynamics and challenges in real-time. Sessions are tailored to each families needs and emphasis is placed on families enjoying one another, connecting and having fun, while therapeutically addressing problematic aspects of the family system. For the longer family retreats, additional time is spent in family connection activities, as well as additional reflective time and closing debrief discussion, providing attachment based parental feedback and coaching if appropriate. Sessions are conducted at local parks and natural areas, or at Wildrock, a natural playscape located in Crozet VA.
